PETER WALKED ON NO WATER!
Who told you Peter walked on water? Oh, you read it in your Bible? I see…you must have read the letter in the scripture, but you did not get the Spirit behind the letter. I'm here to tell you that PETER WALKED ON NO WATER! And I'll prove it! (*bones face*). I'm going to be interpreting the "parable" you must have read. (Chill, I know it's not a parable…just follow me *shines teeth*).
Ok, you must have read in your Bible, somewhere around Matthew 14:24-33 that Peter walked on water. Hmmm…how true is that? Do you really believe that? If you do, then you believed crap! (Calm down and read on!). Peter would have walked on water only if he weighed the same as a pond-skater or less…but he didn't. I'm sure he was at least 50kg, that should be the average weight of an adult (a physiologic man has a weight of 70kg). So how on earth is it possible for a man with such a massive weight even attempt to walk on water, talk less of drowning? The truth is, it's IMPOSSIBLE! It will only be possible if there was something under his feet, just between him and the surface of the water preventing him from sinking as he walks on water. But for a man to walk on water without anything to support him from sinking, it's super impossible. (Believe it or leave it).
To find out the truth about Peter walking on water or not, let's go back to the
Book of Absolute Truth (The Bible) and decipher the "parable". (Be patient with me, I'm getting there! *grins and winks*). Now take a seat while I take you on a ride through MATTHEW 14:24-33, with me, Dikky, chilling at the driver's seat. I have no conductor, so sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride. Oh yes, it's also FREE! (*smiles*).
Ok… (*turns on engine*) fasten your seatbelts! You ready? Now let's roll! Now we are on Matthew 14 road, and v23 tells us about the location of Jesus at a particular time and what He is doing. But at v24, it tells us about the location of the disciples but it also tells us that they are in great danger! At v25, it tells us about the location of Jesus again. This time, He is at the same location with the disciples, and he is also doing something…WALKING ON WATER??? Wait, how did He even get there in the first place, in just a matter of seconds? Now let's have our first stop here. You might wanna drop off at this bus stop, but I urge you to remain in your seats because the journey is just about to get started.
I believe Jesus is God, the omniscient, omnipresent and omnipotent GOD! Meaning; He knows EVERYTHING, He is EVERYWHERE at the same time, and He has the power to do ANYTHING, respectively. Now put your hand under your seats, there's a map attached, pull it out and open it. Look towards the east from our current location on the map, and you'll see a John 1 road. From v1 to v5 tells us that Jesus is indeed God and He is
THE WORD. At v14, you'll see a confirmation that Jesus is even THE WORD in human form. This means His Word is Himself. If you move further to the east on the map, you'll see a similar road, 1John 1, which confirms everything on road John 1 from v1 to v3 on road 1John 1. Ok, now you can keep your map aside as we continue our journey. Moving from v25 to v26 on Matthew 14 road, the disciples spot Jesus (THE WORD) and fear came upon them, coupled with fear of their present danger due to the raging storm. They thought He was a ghost. Actually, they didn't even recognize it was Jesus. But at v27, Jesus gave them THE WORD (Himself) and the disciples recognized Him (THE WORD)…THE WORD that calms our fears. I hope the ride is getting interesting. Sit back because I'm about to increase my speed! (*changes gear to next level and hits the gas hard*).
Yeah, we are now at v28. This is where most of you (including me, but not anymore) didn't pay attention and missed the action! Peter wanted to be absolutely sure he was seeing Jesus (THE WORD) afloat on water.
PLEASE NOTE: Jesus is THE WORD, and He was walking on water because He was on THE WORD, His own Word. He is in Himself. Hmmm…strange huh? God walks in mysterious ways (pun intended). Jesus knew the disciples were in danger (Omniscient), was always there with them (Omnipresent) but they noticed Him ONLY when they were in danger (hmmm…sounds familiar?), and He has the power to do anything, with anything, and be anything (Omnipotent). With Him,
NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE!Now, Peter in v28 asks Jesus to give him THE WORD so he can come to Him. Peter knew he could not walk on water, so he requested for an aid…THE WORD! At v29, Jesus gives Peter THE WORD, and Peter steps out of the boat onto THE WORD, standing on THE WORD, not water! That's why he didn't sink! Peter starts walking towards Jesus with the help of THE WORD under his feet.
PETER WALKED ON NO WATER! If you think I'm lying, see what happens next in v30! Hahahaha, Peter is sinking!!! Why? Because he decided to step out of THE WORD and walk on water! Why did he do that?
FEAR! He was looking at the raging storm and forgot he was safe on THE WORD! (Hmmm, sounds familiar too?). Peter realizes he's sinking and cries out to Jesus (THE WORD) for help. At v31, Jesus saves Peter INSTANTLY! Hmmm, God "walks" in mysterious ways!!!
Jesus told Peter he didn't have
FAITH that he was safe on THE WORD, and wondered why he doubted the infallible security of THE WORD, but listened to the raging voice of danger instead, which instilled
FEAR in him. How on earth did Peter think he could walk on water without THE WORD under his feet…is he a learner??? Anyway, something else happens in v32. Wow! After Jesus saves Peter, they both enter back into the boat and the storm ceases completely!!! WOW!!! Even THE WORD humbles the raging storm! God "walks" in mysterious ways!!! (*!!!speaks in tongues*!!!).
Finally, at v33, the disciples are fully persuaded that indeed, Jesus (THE WORD) is God! Not just the Son of God, but He is God! That's why they were all in awe and worshipped Him!
Now here goes my point: Peter did not walk on water, he walked on THE WORD Jesus gave him. He started sinking because he stepped out of THE WORD onto water, or should I say into water. Water couldn't keep Peter from sinking, but THE WORD Jesus gave him did keep him from sinking. FEAR made him step out of THE WORD into water, so he started sinking!
BOTTOM LINE: Forget facts (storms of life). Stick to THE WORD, stay on THE WORD! Let THE WORD be your "surfboard" for riding on the waves!
With these few points of mine, I hope I've been able to convince you and not confuse you that; PETER WALKED ON NO WATER! If you are still confused, pray and read the whole article over again.
Ok people, this is our final bus stop…(*turns off engine*). You can now get down, thank you!
